Before you feed your travel bug, it is essential that you know the Covid-19 protocol set by the Moroccan government. In this article, we’re covering practical advice and conditions for your trip to Morocco.

Conditions of Access to Moroccan Territory

The Moroccan Ministry of Health classified countries into two categories based on their epidemiological situation. Each list has a different procedure of entry. 

Countries Classification 

List A Countries

This list currently includes the United States and all countries not mentioned in list B. 

List B Countries

Afghanistan, Malawi, Algeria, Maldives, Germany, Mali, Angola, Mauritius, Saudi, Arabia, Mexico, Argentina, Namibia, Bahrain, Nepal, Bangladesh, Nicaragua, Benin, Niger, Bolivia, Oman, Botswana, Uganda, Brazil, Pakistan, Cambodia, Panama, Cameroon, Paraguay, Cape Verde, Netherlands, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Portugal, Congo, Qatar, Congo (DRC), Central African Republic, Cuba, Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North), Spain, United Kingdom United, Egypt, Russia, United Arab Emirates, Seychelles, Eswatini, Sierra Leone, France, Somalia, Guatemala, Sudan, Haiti, South Africa, Honduras, Sri Lanka, India, South Sudan, Indonesia, Syria, Iran, Tanzania, Iraq, Chad, Jamaica, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Togo, Kenya, Tunisia, Kuwait, Ukraine, Lesotho, Uruguay, Latvia, Venezuela, Liberia, Vietnam, Lithuania, Yemen, Madagascar, Zambia, Malaysia, Zimbabwe.

Entry Requirements

Both categories must complete and sign a health form before boarding- to be downloaded online. 

Travelers From List A Countries

This category of travelers must provide the following documents:

For Vaccinated People

  • Proof of complete vaccination with one of the vaccines authorized in Morocco. 

For Unvaccinated or Incompletely Vaccinated People

  • A negative PCR test taken in less than 72 hours.

Note: If you are a U.S. citizen that wants to travel from Morocco to a country other than the USA, make sure to contact the local Wilaya before because it might be required to obtain special authorization from local authorities.

Travelers From List B Countries

Travelers from List B countries must follow more strict rules to enter Moroccan territory.

For Vaccinated People

  • A certificate proving that the individual is completely vaccinated with one of the vaccines approved in Morocco.
  • A negative PCR test of 48 hours maximum.

For unvaccinated or Incompletely Vaccinated People

  • A negative PCR test of no more than 48 hours. 
  • Must undergo a controlled quarantine of 10 days in one of the structures previously designated by the Moroccan authorities, at the expense of the person concerned.
  •  A PCR control test on the 9th day of the controlled quarantine period.

Important Notes

  • Children less than 11 years old are exempt from PCR tests.  
  • A person is considered completely vaccinated after two weeks of the last required dose.
  • Whatever the country of origin is, the vaccination certificate and negative PCR certificate, if applicable, must be included in the health pass when required.
  • U.S. citizens are exempt from visa requirements for Morocco. Only a return-flight ticket within the next 90 days and a passport with at least six months of validity are enough. If you’re not sure whether you overstayed for more than 90 days in Morocco, you should go to the principal police station in your area for instructions.

Covid-19 Measures To Respect In Morocco

When you arrive in Morocco, you have to respect the following covid-19 measures:

  • At the airport, keep a distance of 1.5 meters from others. 
  • Wearing a mask is nationally mandatory in all areas. 
  • Traveling from and to cities of Casablanca, Marrakech, and Agadir is banned. Only vaccinated people or people needing urgent medical care are allowed to travel between these cities. 
  • Also, be aware that there is a curfew in place between the hours of 11:00 PM and 4:30 AM. If you want to go out or travel at this time, you must have authorization from local authorities.
